Austin Fire Ground Survival

The purpose of the IAFF Fire Ground Survival (FGS) Train-the-Trainer Program is to ensure that training for Mayday prevention and Mayday operations are consistent between all fire fighters, company officers and chief officers. After completing the four-day course, participants will have the necessary understanding to successfully deliver the FGS program for their department and those departments where there is a Mutual Aid Agreement.

COVID-19 Event Guidance
The IAFF strongly recommends all IAFF members be fully vaccinated prior to attending any IAFF event. Members who are fully vaccinated have a decreased risk of getting COVID-19 and severe symptoms if exposed. Unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated individuals are at an increased risk of getting COVID-19 and severe symptoms if exposed.

For the health and safety of all attendees, unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated individuals are required to wear a facemask for the duration of the event. Fully vaccinated individuals are not required to wear a facemask during the event.

As we navigate this new normal, fully vaccinated individuals can continue to wear a facemask and social distance from others if they choose to do so. We strongly recommend that individuals who are fully vaccinated and in the vulnerable population or have co-morbidity health conditions continue to wear a facemask for the duration of the event. There is nothing wrong with continuing to be cautious while navigating this pandemic.
